چکیده

A comparison is made of tests for thyroglobulin antibody, using gel diffusion, electroprecipitin, bentonite flocculation, tanned red cell agglutination, and latex slide agglutination techniques on sera from cases of Hashimoto's disease and other thyroid disorders. Any increase in gamma globulin was also noted from the serum electrophoretic pattern. The gel diffusion and electroprecipitin tests are shown to be comparable in their sensitivity, as are the bentonite flocculation and tanned red cell agglutination tests. The flocculation and agglutination tests were oversensitive. The latex slide test in conjunction with the electro-precipitin test is recommended for routine use in the detection of Hashimoto's disease.

Diagnostic tests for thyroid antibodies: a comparison of the precipitin and latex-fixation (Hyland TAI) tests.

The clinical significance of thyroid antibodies is discussed and it is concluded that, of the antibody tests which have been extensively applied, the precipitin test is the most useful for diagnostic purposes. The recently introduced Hyland TA test is compared with the precipitin test. The TA test gives a rapid result and is slightly more sensitive, but it remains undecided whether a true posit...

Serum thyroglobulin antibody levels within or near to the reference range may interfere with thyroglobulin measurement

High concentration of thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb) is a major limiting factor of thyroglobulin measurements in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer. We investigated whether thyroglobulin antibody added to serum samples could interfere with the thyroglobulin assay. Thyroglobulin levels in serum samples with different concentrations of thyroglobulin were measured by electrochemiluminesc...

Nonisotopic "sandwich" immunoassay of thyroglobulin in serum by the biotin-streptavidin technique: evaluation and comparison with an immunoradiometric assay.

In this sequential assay, the thyroglobulin in serum binds to polystyrene beads coated with two mouse monoclonal antibodies. These beads then react with a rabbit polyclonal antibody, biotinylated sheep anti-rabbit IgG, streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase, and a peroxidase substrate to yield a colored product that is measured spectrophotometrically at 492 nm. The range of the standard curve is 1...

The Production of Thyroiditis and Antibody following Injection of Unaltered Thyroglobulin without Adjuvant into Rabbits Previously Stimulated with Altered Thyroglobulin

Injection of rabbits with arsanil-sulfanil-thyroglobulin without adjuvant resulted in the production of hemagglutinating and precipitating antibody to native thyroglobulin and thyroiditis. Following a latent period of 1 month, these same rabbits responded to an injection of native thyroglobulin with an increase in both circulating antibody to native thyroglobulin and severity and frequency of t...

The Induction of Autoimmunity in Rabbits following Injection of Heterologous or Altered Homologous Thyroglobulin

Experimental autoimmunity was produced in rabbits following injection of altered homologous thyroglobulin. The thyroglobulin was altered by coupling to chemically defined haptens and by heating. With some preparations antibody to native thyroglobulin as well as thyroid lesions were produced. Injections of thyroglobulin coupled to the diazonium derivatives of arsanilic acid and sulfanilic acid w...
